Serge VAN KHACHE est né en 1946 à Angoulême d’une mère française et d’un père asiatique. Il étudie le dessin et la peinture à l’école des Beaux-Arts d’Angoulême et parallèlement apprend la photo avec son père. L’artiste s’installe à Paris comme photographe et illustrateur. Sa passion de l’image le porte alors vers la retouche et le trucage photographiques. Il travaille, entre autres, pour des magazines comme Lui, Play Boy, Vogue, et pour le cinéma (films de André Cayatte, Agnès Varda, Roger Hanin,...). C’est en 1984 qu’il décide de se consacrer exclusivement à la peinture. Il reçoit, parmi d’autres distinctions, le 1er prix au salon de Peinture Fantastique d’Avoriaz en 1985, et le 1er prix de Peinture Symboliste à Cannes en 1990. Depuis 1996, il est en exclusivité avec la galerie Mickaël Marciano à Paris, Place des Vosges. Et les toiles de Serge Van Khache figurent dans de nombreuses collections privées, tant en France, qu’à l’étranger (Europe, Asie, U.S.A., Arabie Saoudite, Liban, Canada...). Sa rencontre avec l’art du vitrail date de 1993, lors d’une première collaboration avec Anne Pinto autour d’un vitrail à créer pour l’église de Villejésus. Pour l’église, Serge Van Khache a réalisé deux fresques dans le choeur et le chemin de croix. L’atelier Pinto s’est inspiré d’une de ses oeuvres peintes - l’Echelle de Jacob” pour réaliser le vitrail de la façade ouest. Serge Van Khache s’est laissé séduire alors par la coloration et l’interprétation proposées par l’atelier de vitrail. Une fructueuse collaboration s’est établi depuis, qui a donné le jour à de nombreuses créations figuratives, renouant ainsi avec un art religieux et significatif. He received, among other distinctions, 1st prize at the Avoriaz Fantasy Painting Salon in 1985, and 1st prize for Symbolist Painting in Cannes in 1990. Since 1996, he has been exclusively with the Mickaël Marciano gallery in Paris, Place des Vosges. And Serge Van Khache’s paintings appear in numerous private collections, both in France and abroad (Europe, Asia, U.S.A., Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Canada...). His encounter with the art of stained glass dates back to 1993, during a first collaboration with Anne Pinto around a stained glass window to be created for the church of Villejésus. For the church, Serge Van Khache created two frescoes in the choir and the Stations of the Cross. The Pinto workshop was inspired by one of its painted works - Jacob’s Ladder - to create the stained glass window on the west facade. Serge Van Khache was then seduced by the coloring and interpretation offered by the stained glass workshop. A fruitful collaboration has since been established, which has given rise to numerous figurative creations, thus reconnecting with religious and significant art.
